[Sonic] The Last Frontier: Ch. 10
Sandy's outburst was more than enough to get the two dozen innocent bystanders in the foyer stopped in their tracks and looking right at us.  I could feel the weight of their judgmental glances.  The cops finished putting the cuffs on my wrists, and we were unceremoniously paraded out the door, down the front steps, and up the street.  The entire time, Sandy continued to struggle against her handcuffs.
"Please, ya gotta let us go.  Nobody got hurt.  It's all a big misunderstandin'!  Tell 'em, Sonic!"
Although she was right, I knew it'd be foolish to say something out loud that might be used against us at some later point.  I responded "Just keep quiet for now.  We'll get this sorted out," in a way that I hoped didn't sound critical.
I wasn't sure what to make of her expression, but thankfully, she heeded my warning, as we walked a total of four blocks from the capitol to a two-story red-brick building.  I had guessed it was a police station

[Zootopia] Nick and Judy's First Stakeout
The following was originally published as a journal entry on December 11, 2016, due to DeviantART's restrictions of using chat icons in text-based gallery submissions.  In the interest of preserving the upload so it isn't overwritten by the next journal entry, I am transferring it to the gallery, by posting the entire script in the comments field, and posting the Author's Comments here in this text box.  Everything below this line is taken from the original Author's Comments.
I first got the idea for writing this more than a week ago, or at least, the core premise of Nick and Judy being on a stakeout for the first time.  It was only when I decided to write it down that I fleshed out a bit of its details, particularly in the beginning to establish context.  I tried staying as close to their personalities as I believe they would be.
I am so thankful for DA's "Community Emoticons" feature, and the fact that there are so many chat icons of Nick and Judy to choose

Sandy and I left Mr. Johnson’s office, keeping quiet until we were completely outside the building.
“That was unexpected,” I said.  “I didn’t really think we’d find out that much information from someone in the company.  Do you think he was being truthful?”
Sandy was still lost in thought.  “I honestly don’t know, Sonic, but it has got me thinkin’: maybe I was wrong to assume this was all the doing of the railroad folks.  I’m sure that’s part of it, but if the railroad’s buyin’ land from the gov’mint, then we’ve definitely gotta look into that next.”
Our next destination was the capitol building where the territory government was bound to conduct all its business.  Going there probably would’ve taken less time if we had spotted it on our previous outing, but since we didn’t have that foresight soon enough, we resorted to asking people on the

[Sonic] The Last Frontier: Ch. 8
During the course of the night, I found myself dreaming of my old life back in Knothole, with my friends, and all the times we shared, whether teaming up against Robotnik or just hanging out.  With every passing day in this new timeline, those memories began to slip away little by little, like I was watching all of it unfurl on a TV screen.  It gave me a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach to think I would likely never see their faces again.  Here I was, stuck centuries in the past in a different part of the world, and the closest thing I had to a friend was the lonely gray squirrel that was curled up on the other side of the bed.  I could only imagine how she was feeling about all this, minding her own business in her quaint little frontier town until the notice came that threatened to erase her town from existence.  Somehow our quest for answers had taken these two strangers hundreds of miles away from that place, in an upscale city hotel, sleepin

Sonic...Sonic...wake up...
I heard what sounded like Sally Acorn's voice speaking to me.  But that couldn't be right, could it?  Wasn't I still...
"Sonic...GIT UP!"
I jolted awake, still lying there on the floor.  Sandy had been standing over me with her hands on her hips, before walking over to the window to throw open the curtains and flood my face with bright morning light.  I shielded my eyes and sat up, yawning.  I wasn't feeling nearly as rested as the previous morning; whether that was from being worn out by all the running yesterday, or if I had simply slept fewer hours, I wasn't sure.
"I'm sorry about that, Sandy.  Did I oversleep?" I mumbled.
She shook her head.  "No, but we ain't gonna git to the capital any time soon if we sleep the whole day away."
I gave her my pillow and bed sheet, and she made the bed neatly.  After gathering our belongings, we headed downstairs to leave, passing by the dining room where we saw the old squi

[Sonic] The Last Frontier: Ch. 6
We left the ghost town of White Rock in our dust as we now, for the first time, had something concrete to guide our journey in the form of iron and wooden railroad tracks.  It had been a long day of discovery, much longer than the time we had spent traveling yesterday, and it was wearing us all down.  Sandy's eyelids looked like they were hanging a bit heavier, and Petunia was noticeably breathing hard with every stride forward.  My feet could've done with a rest as well, but I didn't want to say anything about it.
"I don't wanna keep this up fer too much longer, Sonic," Sandy said what we were both thinking.  "I'm gettin' tired."
I suggested "Let's try going all the way to the next town before calling it quits for the day.  Unless the next town is too far ahead.  What does the map say?"
She pulled it out, trying to hold it steady in a breeze that spontaneously kicked up.  "Well, the map don't show any railroad tracks, so I ain't too sure where they'r

Here are the new rules:
-If you vow to disagree with every argument the other side makes, you’ve lost your license to argue.
-If you believe your opinions are completely right and are unwilling to change them, you’ve lost your license to argue.
-If you are under the impression that a group of millions of people including yourself all share nearly identical values and opinions, and don’t view this as a perversion of your mind, you’ve lost your license to argue.
-People are no longer allowed to pointlessly nitpick at logical inconsistencies in the arguments of others, and instead must face the body of the problem proposed. Any attempts to belittle an opponent by sidetracking into semantic dead ends will be punished.
-People are no longer to use the statements of others blatantly out of context. Any attempts to use a person’s words against them unless in the pursuit of seeking a logical inconsistency in their argument will be punished.

I have my favorites categorized. In one category, I put all the pictures from other artists that I've helped work on (usually by coloring). In another, I put pictures from artists that were created for me.

EDIT -- I should probably rephrase that last comment. Since writing this description, I've become a bit less...uptight about how I define a favorite. I'll add a picture to my favorites if it's something I believe is worth seeing again.

For the first time since I can remember, someone actually tagged me in a journal meme.  I'll pay it forward.

The O.C. I choose for this won't be STP the Hedgehog.  I'll go with one that I tend to overlook even more than the others: Tiberius "Ty" the Fox.
I haven't really done much with him since creating him back in 2010, so I'll try to refresh his characteristics.

QUESTIONS (These are the same questions asked on the other journal.  I don't see any instructions indicating I have to write/answer different ones, so I'll answer these.)
1. When were you born?
I was born in 1945, in one of the hottest Augusts on record.
2. What's your favorite color?
Green, particularly a dark green.  It's why I put a cabin out in the middle of this pine forest at the base of the mountains.
3. What's your favorite food?
Venison steak.  It just tastes that much more satisfying when you have to work for it, bow-hunting and field-dressing the deer first.  (I only hunt for meat, not for sport.)
4. Do you have a gf/bf?
I was married once, back in my late 20's and early 30's.  Ten years in, I found out my wife had been cheating on me for three years, and we parted ways.  It left a bad taste in my mouth, and I never re-married.
5. What's your favorite thing to do?
Spending a lot of time out here alone can get boring if you don't have things to keep your mind occupied.  I've acquired so many books over the years that there's always something to read.
6. How fast can you run?
I try to stay limber, but these old bones can't move like they used to.  I have to be steady with my bow and arrow because I certainly can't chase down a runaway animal anymore.
Hmph...wait until you're 71 years old and see how fast you can move.
8. How smart are you?
Thanks to all the reading I've done over my lifetime, I like to consider myself a learned man.  But I don't bring it up in conversation unless someone asks.
9: Do you have bro/sis?
I do, as a matter of fact.  One brother three years younger than me, and a sister five years younger.  They live elsewhere, and I haven't reached out to them in well over a year.  Last I heard, they're doing fine.
10. LAST QUESTION: What's your belonging that you never wanna lose?
A photo album containing black-and-whites of my parents shortly before they died.  It's the only thing of theirs that I've got left.

I can't tag 6 people, because I don't even know that many people (at a level more than acquaintance, at least) on this website.  I'll tag:
RobotPuppetmaster (I do want to see her responses, though I know it's unlikely I'll see them posted here)

I'm not one to let a good idea go to waste, no matter what it is or where it might come from, which is why my creative work spans everything from writing to hand drawing to digital art and 3D modeling.
