I recognize that it's been a few months since I've uploaded anything new to DA, and that's been for one reason or another. That is one of the reasons I am posting this journal entry.
I first got the idea for this a long time ago, but now I'm taking the first step towards it in action. Most people have heard the phrase that "a picture is worth a thousand words." I used to have a teacher in school who expanded that by including "And if you have a thousand words to back it up, it's twice as good." That's what inspired me to try this.
In an attempt to get the creative juices flowing again -- which would likely help me make some progress towards things I've neglected as of late, such as more chapters of The Last Frontier -- I want to try the following challenge. I will be presented with some random image, and then I will write one thousand words (no more, no less) to accompany it. The thousand words could either be a detailed description of what I see in the image, or it could be a story that I see unfolding from the contents of the image. (It would be whichever I would find easier to write for that particular image.)
The question I have is: if I was to start this challenge, would anyone be interested in reading what I write about the images? Or would I just be wasting my time?
If you're interested, then post a comment on this journal with an image you'd like me to write about. For now, these are the rules:
1. You must be one of my watchers to participate. Whether you've followed me since 2007 or you just watched me a few seconds ago, you're eligible.
2. No images with gratuitous violence, nudity, or sexual content. Also, since I'd be uploading the image along with the text, I'd prefer the images be royalty-free / approved for reuse. You can filter by usage rights in Google image search.
3. First come, first serve. I'll only work on one piece of writing at a time, and I won't promise how long it will take me to complete it.
4. People who submitted an image to me before, can submit one to me again. Preference will be given to first-timers, though.
